Winter resorts
Bulgaria is a mountainous country. Approximately half of its territory is occupied by mountainous formations various in their area, height, nature and origin. All of them are a ring of the powerful range of the Alpine - Himalayan Massif comprising a multitude of mountainous systems on the two continents - Europe and Asia. They are precondition for winter and ski tourism in Bulgaria.
During the past few years the Bulgarian ski resorts went through fast development and modernization and are now offering high class service.
Some of the most famous ski resorts are: Borovets, Pamporovo, Bansko, Chepelare, Vitosha, etc.

Its altitude above sea level is from 1230 to 1390 m and its climate is one of the healthiest. It is pleasantly cool here in summer (the average July temperature is 15.2°Ñ), and the winter is mild and snowy (the average January temperature being 4.8°Ñ). Malyovitsa is a smaller resort than Borovets but there is no other resort not only in the Rila Mountain but also in the whole Bulgaria, which can compare with its beauty and grandeur.
